Alex takes One Show sofa
Welsh TV presenter Alex Jones, 32, today said she was bowled over to have won an audition to replace Christine Bleakley and join comedian Jason Manford as the new co-presenter of the BBC prime time One Show from August 16.

It will mean a big boost in pay for the girl from Ammanford. Christine Bleakley left The One Show for GMTV after haggling with the BBC over a new contract thought to be worth £450,000 a year, an offer finally withdrawn.

Over the past 10 years Alex has worked for S4C and presented children’s programmes, such as the extreme sports show Chwa, a chat show with Jonathan Davies and a travel series with Aled Samuel called Tocyn. She is a regular co-host on Real Radio GMG in Wales.

A fluent Welsh speaker, Alex studied theatre, film and TV at Aberystwyth University and sat some of her degree finals in Magaluf because she was appearing on Davina McCall’s Sky One show Prickly Heat at the time.
