Robin McBryde champions Snowdonia sports centre
Robin McBryde, 2005 Grand Slam winner and coach to Wales National Rugby Academy, has given his support to the Snowdonia Gateway proposal to create a centre of excellence for sports and activities at the Glyn Rhonwy site, Llanberis. The high quality leisure destination proposal will include a 500m real snow ski and snowboarding slope, UK's first Flow rider surf machine and a family water park as well as a fitness centre and outdoor activities including mountain biking and other family activities. There will be a host of other activities including education and training for young people. Mr McBryde, coach to Wales' young top talent in rugby said: "The Snowdonia Gateway proposal to develop a centre of excellence for activities and sports is a great idea which I wholeheartedly support. By having a world class facility in north Wales we can encourage young people to become healthy and active as well as to aspire to become great sports leaders of the future. "I have visited the Glyn Rhonwy site and I think that the vision Snowdonia Gateway have for the disused quarry is remarkable. I wish them well and urge the people of Wales to give their support to this exciting development."

As part of its community programme, Snowdonia Gateway will be holding a week long exhibition during the first week of the Easter holidays (10th 14th of April). Gwyn Pritchard, Managing Director of Snowdonia Gateway said: "We welcome children and adults alike to come and see our new design for the Glyn Rhonwy Site and to get involved in the project. At the exhibition Snowdonia Gateway will be there to answer questions about the proposed centre and its planned activities, discuss the critical issues and provide some fun for the family. "We have had a resounding support from many local young people and from elsewhere in Wales and beyond. People realise that this is an opportunity to develop a year round vibrant economy. Even on a rainy April day when visitors and local people will be looking for ways to entertain their children, there will be a variety of activities to suit their needs."
