New Tenby Cottage Hospital opened by health minister
The new Tenby Cottage Hospital was officially opened by Health Minister Dr Brian Gibbons today.

Tenby Cottage Hospital is a modern, state-of-the-art centre providing out-patient, minor injury and day care services and will act as a base for Health and Social Care community services in the area. The Welsh Assembly Government funded the full £4.1 million cost of the unit, as part of our £300m capital development programme.

The hospital houses a local Community Reablement Team who provide services within the hospital and in people's own homes.

Dr Gibbons said: "Delivery of healthcare in Mid & West Wales is changing, and the new Cottage Hospital for Tenby is a significant step on the road to delivering the modern and fit for purpose health services promised our flagship health strategy, 'Designed for Life'.

"The Community Reablement Team demonstrates a new integrated way of working that puts into practice the philosophy of maintaining people in their own homes wherever possible. District Nursing, Social Services and Community Therapists will be based at the new hospital and will work as one team to support the surrounding community."

"The close and commendable partnership between the Trust, Local Health Board, Local Implementation Group and Welsh Assembly Government has delivered this modern accessible facility."

The Health Minister unveiled a plaque, made a short speech and declared Tenby Cottage Hospital officially open at 11am before embarking on a brief tour of the new facilities.
