Hope for autistic children

Hope for autistic children
Every day in the UK and Ireland, parents of autistic children are told that their children will never speak, attend a typical school, make friends, or even learn to dress themselves. Raun K. Kaufman tells parents something very different. He offers hope, help, and a concrete blueprint to reach unreachable children. And he is coming to Cardiff in September. At 18 months, Raun was diagnosed as irreversibly autistic. His parents, authors/teachers Barry Neil Kaufman and Samahria Lyte Kaufman, developed a unique methodology called The Son-Rise Program®. This program enabled Raun to fully recover from his autism. He was transformed from a mute, withdrawn child with a tested I.Q. of less than 30 into an outgoing, social boy with a near-genius I.Q. (His recovery was documented in the best-selling book Son-Rise: The Miracle Continues, and a television movie viewed by over 300 million people worldwide.)

Raun, an international lecturer and autism treatment specialist, was recently named Director of the Autism Treatment Center of America, a non-profit organization that has worked with more the 22,000 parents, children, and professionals from around the world.

Autism rates in the UK have exploded in recent years, with statistics showing that this once-rare disorder (1 in 10,000) now occurs in as many as 1 in 100 children. According to the National Autistic Society, it is estimated that over half a million people have autism in the UK, with more than 2 million people affected by the disorder.

Mr. Kaufman explains why, under The Son-Rise Progr

"Rather than forcing these children to conform to a world that they don't yet understand, we take the unique step of joining them in their autistic world first. With this starting point, the program has pioneered a new way of working with children," says Mr. Kaufman. In fact, the program has made such breakthroughs that the Caudwell Charity has chosen to fund this treatment for hundreds of UK children. The Caudwell Charity is the premier UK philanthropic organization founded by John Caudwell, the Chairman and Chief Executive of The Caudwell Group of companies and Phones 4 U.

Raun K. Kaufman is embarking on a 10-city free public lecture tour across the UK and Ireland in September entitled: Breakthrough Strategies for Autism Spectrum Disorders. The specific strategies he will address have been shown to have an immediate impact on children with Autism, PDD, Asperger's Syndrome, and other related developmental challenges. Parents and professionals will learn how to help their children, for the first time, to begin to cross the bridge from their world to ours.
